Church Street (Route 1061) Surfacing Postponed

10/02/2008
Asphalt surfacing on Church Street (Route 1061) in Eudora has been postponed until Saturday, October 11. Due to school traffic and commercial business traffic in the corridor, Douglas County, the City of Eudora and the contractor have agreed that surfacing on a Saturday will be much less disruptive to local traffic than surfacing during the week. Since EudoraFest is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, the surfacing will be delayed one week. The contractor plans to complete all surfacing on Saturday, October 11. During surfacing operations between K-10 and 14th Street , traffic will be reduced to one lane and will be controlled by flaggers and/or pilot vehicle. During surfacing operations between 14th Street and 10th Street (Route 442), both lanes of Church Street will be closed to all traffic. A signed detour will be marked. The detour will follow 14th Street to Elm Street to 10th Street. The contractor has completed all milling work, and will complete necessary asphalt patching by the end of Friday, October 3. Douglas County contracted with LRM Industries, Inc. for this project. The work on Church Street is anticipated to cost approximately $140,000. The City of Eudora will pay approximately $4,600 towards the project cost.
