Cormack, 38, was sentenced today in District Court for aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The Honorable Robert W. Fairchild sentenced Cormack to 59 months in prison and 36 months post release supervision. The Court also set a $100,000 appeal bond. The case developed after the now 24 year old victim came to investigators and reported the abuse she suffered. The victim met Cormack when she was about 13 years old and was attending a Lawrence church where he was the youth group director. Their relationship began with kissing when she was 14, but become sexual by the time the she was 15 years old. The abuse continued for another three years. The victim compellingly addressed the Court during the hearing and detailed the impact the abuse had on her as a child and now as an adult. Mr. Cormack will serve his sentence in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections. -30-
