Portion of Route 1057 to be closed for pavement reconstruction

07/01/2009
Route 1057 (E 1900 Road) from K-10 highway to Route 442 (N 1400 Road) will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, July 6 for pavement reconstruction activities. Route 1057 will be closed between the north side of the westbound K-10 ramps and Route 442 for the project's duration. Douglas County anticipates reopening Route 1057 by August 10, weather permitting. No marked detour will be provided. Alternate connections between Route 442 and K-10 highway include Noria Road (E 1750 Road), Route 1061 (Church Street in Eudora), and the Route 442/K-10 interchange east of Eudora. Access will be maintained from Route 442 to Davenport Orchards/Winery in the southeast quadrant of the Route 1057/Route 442 intersection. The pavement in this 1/2-mile long section of Route 1057 has severely deteriorated due to the large volume of heavy truck traffic. This project will remove the existing pavement and replace it with a fly ash treated subgrade and 10" of asphalt pavement. The project also includes geometric improvements to the south side of the Route 1057/Route 442 intersection. The Board of County Commissioners awarded a construction contract to LRM Industries for this project. LRM was the low bidder with a bid of $322,308.25. Construction will be funded from Douglas County's Capital Improvement Program.
