Douglas County Emergency Management Receives National Citizen Corps Achievement Award Douglas County Emergency Management is proud to announce on August 11, 2009, they were the recipient of the National Citizen Corps Achievement Award Honorable Mention in the category of Collaborative Preparedness Planning presented at the 2009 National Conference on Community Preparedness in Arlington, Virginia. This award recognizes innovative practices and achievements that make our community safer, stronger, and better prepared to manage any emergency situation. It exemplifies excellence in community emergency planning, successful public-private partnerships, collaboration, demonstration of creative and innovative local problem solving, and implementing sound programs that can be modeled for use by other communities. As an Honorable Mention, Douglas County, KS Citizen Corps will receive a certificate from FEMA and will be promoted on the National Citizen Corps website and in other Citizen Corps materials. The Douglas County Citizen Corps Council is representatives from governmental and non-governmental agencies throughout Douglas County who are actively involved on the Council. Douglas County Citizen Corps Council is dedicated and proud to be a leading example of cooperation, coordination, and collaboration focusing on local preparedness activities to ensure a more resilient community.
