Fairchild sentenced Lawrence resident Arthur W. Davis III, 61, to 155 months for Attempted First Degree Murder (Level 1, Person, Felony), 155 months for Aggravated Kidnapping (Level 1, Person, Felony) and 12 months for Contributing to a Child's Misconduct (Level 7, Person, Felony.) District Attorney Branson advised, "This was a particular heinous crime. For a father to scheme and use his own children to perpetrate such a violent crime is unforgivable." A jury found Davis guilty on December 8, 2009 of the June 16, 2009 attack on his ex-wife and mother of his two children. Davis hatched a plan to have his children beat their mother to death with a baseball bat. The Defendant and victim's daughter provided testimony during the trial about his plan. -30-
