Outdoor Warning Sirens will not activate during Statewide Tornado Drill

03/10/2010
Due to possible severe weather today and rain chances tomorrow, Douglas County Emergency Management will not activate the Outdoor Warning Sirens during the Statewide Tornado Drill scheduled for Thursday, March 11th at 1:30PM. It is standard procedure for siren tests to be postponed or cancelled due to inclement weather. The Emergency Alert System (EAS) on radio and television stations as well as NOAA All Hazard Weather Radios may still be activated, but the Outdoor Warning Sirens will not be activated for this test. Even though the sirens will not activate, Emergency Management still encourages the community to take advantage of the test and practice the tornado safety plans in place in homes, businesses, schools, etc. The next regularly scheduled test of the Outdoor Warning Sirens will be conducted on Monday, March 15th at noon, weather permitting.
