Lawrence Resident Pleads to Aggravated Indecent Liberties and Other Charges

Pennay, 48, plead no contest to two counts of Indecent Liberties with a child (Level 5 Person/Felony) and Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child (Level 3/Person/Felony). This multiple victim case initially was brought to the attention of police in March 2009 when a mother brought her daughter to speak to investigators. The 14 year old girl had recently been at the home of Mr. Pennay and he had touched the girl in a sexual manner. LPD learned of the other two victims as they completed investigation of the case. Mr. Pennay will be sentenced April 27 at 1:30 p.m. For each of the two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child he faces 31-136 months in prison and for the charge of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child he faces 55 to 247 months in prison. The case was heard in the Courtroom of the Honorable Sally D. Pokorny and the case was investigated by the Lawrence Police Department. -30-
