Pavement resurfacing work to restrict traffic on Route 1023/Route 458

07/12/2010
The Douglas County Public Works Department announces that Tuesday, July 13, pavement patching and overlay work will commence on Route 1023/Route 458 south of Stull. The project is to resurface Route 1023/Route 458, and pave 4'-wide shoulders, from Route 442 at Stull to the Route 458/Route 1 intersection north of the town of Lone Star. The initial work item is pavement patching between the town of Stull and the Route 1023/Route 6 intersection. Traffic will be restricted to one-lane and controlled through the work areas with pilot vehicles and flaggers. Motorists should anticipate significant travel delays through the project work areas. The project includes a 3" asphalt overlay on the two traffic lanes and construction of 4'-wide, 6"-deep paved shoulders throughout most of the project length. There will be no paved shoulders in the northern approximately 1/4-mile near Stull. The project includes milling 8,417 linear feet of the total 10.56 miles, or about 15%, of the total project length. The Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract to Bettis Asphalt of Topeka, KS for the project. Bettis Asphalt submitted the low bid in the amount of $2,453,699. Douglas County's Capital Improvement Program is funding the project.
