Lawrence Woman Pleads No Contest to Rape Charge

Lyles, 28, plead no contest in the Division One Courtroom of the Honorable Robert W. Fairchild to the charge of Rape (off grid/person/felony). Detectives with the Lawrence Police Department began investigation into the case on April 13, 2009 when they were contacted by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Serves regarding the abuse of a child. Ms. Lyles will be sentenced on September 24 at 4:00 p.m. Jessica's Law applies to the case; therefore she faces a sentence of 25 years to life. The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Amy McGowan. -30-
