Jury Finds Lawrence Man Guilty of Multiple Counts of Rape

Stockton, 43, of Lawrence of three counts of Rape of a Child Under 14 Years of Age and one count of Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child. The charges stemmed from Mr. Stockton having sexual intercourse with the female victim from the time she was 11 until she was 14. A sentencing date will be set at a Status Conference that is scheduled for Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Stockton will face a sentence of life in prison. The trial began Monday, September 13 and closing arguments concluded Friday afternoon. The jury returned its verdict following less than four hours of deliberation. The Honorable Sally Pokorny presided over the case. It was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Amy McGowan. -30-
