Guilty Plea Entered In Capital Case

Damien C. Lewis entered pleas of guilty to charges in 02CR1268 including first degree premeditated murder of George Wallace and capital murder of Wyona Chandlee today in Douglas County District Court Division 4. In exchange for this plea the State withdrew its notice of intent to seek the death penalty for the July, 2002 murders. Lewis pled guilty to first degree premeditated murder of George "Pete" Wallace, capital murder for the death of Wyona Chandlee, aggravated robbery of Wallace, aggravated robbery of Chandlee, aggravated burglary of the Wallace-Chandlee residence at 1530 Learnard, burglary of 1900 Learnard and criminal in possession of a firearm. Lewis also pled guilty to all counts contained in 02 CR 1254 charging aggravated robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated robbery and criminal in possession of a firearm. Sentencing is set June 13, 2003 at 1:30 p.m.
