Lawrence Man Sentenced in the Exchange Shooting

CONTACT INFO: Charles Branson Douglas County District Attorney 785-841-0211 cbranson@douglas-county.com Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson announces Lawrence resident, Sinh Lavongsa, 28, was sentenced today in the Division Four Courtroom of the Honorable Michael J. Malone to 83 months for six counts of Aggravated Battery. It is believed Mr. Lavongsa will be deported to his homeland of Thailand after serving his prison sentence. The charges stemmed from a heated argument between Mr. Lavongsa and his friends and the attendees of a party at the Exchange apartment complex. As the argument escalated, Mr. Lavongsa fired multiple gunshots into the apartment and wounded six people. The case was investigated by the Lawrence Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney James McCabria. -30-
