E 800 Road to be closed between US-40 and N 1750 Road beginning July 5

06/30/2011
E 800 Road between US-40 highway and N 1750 Road will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday, July 5 for drainage structure replacements. No marked detour will be provided. It is anticipated E 800 Road will be opened to through traffic by mid-August, weather permitting. Two large culverts are being replaced, one approximately 0.65 miles north of US-40, and one approximately 0.25 mile north of US-40 highway. Each culvert will be replaced sequentially with the northernmost culvert being replaced first. Traffic to local properties along E 800 Road between US-40 and N 1750 Road will be maintained. However, during construction activities at each individual culvert replacement location, access to properties north of the culvert replacement location must be from the north, and properties south of culvert replacement location must be accessed from the south. At the northernmost location, 0.65 mile north of US-40, Douglas County forces will install a pre-cast concrete rigid frame structure, 14' span x 8' high x 44' long. At the location 0.25 mile north of US-40, Douglas County will install an approximate 9' span x 6' high x 78' long arch-pipe culvert. The projects also include approach-roadway grading including widening the road near the culverts and flattening ditch side slopes to improve safety.
