Jury Convicts Lawrence Man of Aggravated Battery

11/14/2011
Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson announces today a jury convicted Lawrence resident Michael C. Pringle, 35, of Aggravated Battery. The jury also designated the charge was a domestic violence offense. Mr. Pringle faces 11 to 34 months for the charge. His actual sentence will depend upon his prior criminal history. On July 11, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a witness called the Lawrence Police Department to the Holcomb Recreation Center. The responding officer found Mr. Pringle's injured, estranged wife in the parking lot. Mr. Pringle had intentionally hit her with his car when he exited the parking lot, but luckily she only suffered minor injuries when she was hit. The trial began last Wednesday, closing arguments were delivered this morning and the jury deliberated for approximately three hours before returning its verdict. The Honorable Sally D. Pokorny presided over the case. The Lawrence Police Department investigated the case and Assistant District Attorneys Michael Allen and Catherine Decena Skinner prosecuted it. The judge ordered a pre-sentence investigation be completed and scheduled a sentencing hearing for December 12 at 4:00 p.m. CONTACT INFO: Charles Branson Douglas County District Attorney 785-841-0211 cbranson@douglas-county.com -30-
