Deborah Gomez Sentencing

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson announces Deborah M. Gomez, 44, was sentenced today in the Division Five Courtroom of the Honorable Paula B. Martin to 12 months probation with Court Services. Ms. Gomez plead no contest on December 14 to three counts of Endangering a Child. The underlying sentence to her probation is 12 months jail for each count with the time to run consecutive for each charge for a controlling sentence of 36 months in the Douglas County Jail. Investigation into the case began when a concerned citizen noticed two of Ms. Gomez's children tied up outside her and co-defendant Adolfo Gomez's vehicle. The citizen was alarmed enough to contact the 9-1-1 and officers with the Lawrence Police Department were dispatched to the disabled vehicle which was parked in a west Lawrence store parking lot.
