Inclement Weather Cancels Weather101

February 20, 2013 -Due to inclement weather, Douglas County Emergency Management is cancelling the National Weather Service session of Weather 101 scheduled for Thursday, February 21st, at 7:00PM at South Middle School. While Weather101 is being cancelled, Emergency Management is still hosting the Douglas County Severe Weather Symposium. Severe Weather Symposium: Join Emergency Managers, Storm Spotters, Media, Meteorologists, and Weather Enthusiasts for Douglas County Emergency Management's Annual Severe Weather Symposium. The event will be held 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at KU Memorial Union, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd. in Lawrence, Kansas. This day is designed to train and expand your knowledge in advanced storm development, spotter safety, and the importance of spotter reports. The presentations will include incredible storm videos, experts in the field from the National Weather Service and the private sector, and will conclude with Panel discussion with the presenters and local television meteorologists. The Symposium is for Storm Spotters, but is open to the public. The fee for the Symposium is $15.00 which includes a light breakfast and meal ticket.
