Storm Closes Douglas County District Court (7th Judicial District)

The Douglas County District Court is closed Thursday, February 21, 2013, due to a winter storm in the area. Acting Chief Judge Peggy Carr Kittel announced her decision Wednesday evening to close the court as a safety measure. Anyone who had a hearing scheduled Thursday, February 21, should contact his or her attorney or Court offices as soon as possible to reschedule. The decision to close the Douglas County District Court comes in the wake of closures of the Judicial Center in Topeka and non-essential Executive Branch offices across the state. Barring further weather difficulties, the Court will open on Friday as usual. As always, a judge is available as needed for emergencies.
