Proclamation: Commissioners declared April 1-5, 2013 as Public Health Week

Office of the County Commission P R O C L A M A T I O N For Douglas County, Kansas WHEREAS: Good health and quality of life for everyone in Douglas County is an important goal for our community; and WHEREAS: The role of public health is to protect promote and restore the public's health; and WHEREAS: The health of our community depends on many factors - such as individual health behaviors, education, jobs, quality of health care and the environment; and WHEREAS: National Public Health Week provides the focused opportunity for the public to learn about our communities public health concerns and success stories; and WHEREAS: Action by community leaders to implement policy changes that promote the community health plan goals of healthy eating, active living, reduced poverty, improved access to health care and mental health care will make our community a healthier place to live for current and future generations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County, Kansas, hereby proclaim the week of April 1-5, 2013 as "PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK" Dated this 27th day of March 2013.
