Consideration of Penny's Sand pit CUP permit final approval scheduled for August 28 meeting

08/05/2013
The Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) will consider granting final approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for the proposed Penny's Sand excavation and extraction facility during the August 28 commission meeting. The Wednesday meeting will be held at 6:35 PM in the County Commission room on the 2nd floor of the Douglas County courthouse at 11th & Massachusetts in Lawrence. The BoCC received public comment and considered the issue during their February 27, 2013 and March 13, 2013 meetings. At the latter meeting, the BoCC granted contingent approval of a CUP permit contingent upon the results of a pre-dredging study conducted by an independent 3rd-party consultant. The pre-dredging study has been completed. A report on the pre-dredging study can be found at the link below. The pre-dredging study was conducted by Conestoga-Rovers & Associates under contract with Douglas County.
