Jury Convicts Shawnee Man of Felony Criminal Damage to Property

Douglas County District Attorney Charles Branson announced today that a jury convicted Shawnee, Kansas resident Eric J. Wilson, 35, early Thursday evening of his original charge of felony criminal damage to property. The conviction will also be tagged as a domestic violence conviction. When dispatched to a residence on the afternoon of January 2, 2012 for a domestic disturbance, officers with the Eudora Police Department began investigation into the case. The victim called police because Wilson became angry when she asked him to leave. When he left, he rammed his vehicle into an outdoor shed multiple times, destroying the shed and some of the contents in the process. The loss totaled over $1,000. The trial started Wednesday and went to the jury Thursday afternoon. The jury deliberated for about one and a half hours before returning its verdict. Sentencing will be September 30 at 4:30 p.m. The case was heard in the Division Two Courtroom of the Honorable Sally D. Pokorny, was investigated by the Eudora Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Eve Kemple and Rebekah Gaston.
