Proclamation: County Commission declares October 13-19 as "LiveWell Week"

Office of the County Commission PROCLAMATION Douglas County, Kansas WHEREAS: Good health and quality of life for everyone in Douglas County is an important goal for our community; and WHEREAS: Healthy eating, being physically active, and living tobacco free are essential ingredients to a healthy, productive life; and WHEREAS: The government of Douglas County has been actively engaged in efforts to promote community health including the development of a county-wide community health improvement plan; and WHEREAS: LiveWell Lawrence is a diverse, active community coalition founded to promote policy and environmental changes that make it easier for local residents to eat healthy foods, engage in physical activity; and live tobacco free; and WHEREAS: In the five years since it was founded, LiveWell has experienced tremendous growth and now has over one hundred community partners contributing to our community's health; and WHEREAS: LiveWell is committed to advancing shared public health priorities and making the community a healthier place to live for current and future generations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County, Kansas, hereby proclaim the week of October 13-19, 2013 as "LiveWell Week" Dated this 9th day of October 2013.
