Do Not Fall For Fake IRS Collectors

Posted on 8/15/2014 12:00:00 PM

A Douglas County resident received the voicemail message (attached below) from a fake IRS tax collector trying to scare them into believing a warrant was going to be issued for their arrest.  Please listen to the message and if you receive a similar one report it to the Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration at 800-366-4484.  You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov/complaint.  Include "IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint.

If you believe you may owe taxes and need assistance or confirmation, call the IRS at 800-829-1049 or visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov.
